Now Playing Tracks

Now that I’ve finally had a moment to sit down, go through photos, and reflect about this past weekend… I gotta say it was probably the highlight of 2013 for me.A month ago I was bombarded with options for the August long weekend. I could experience the east coast with the Hotboyz, travel down to PARC to shred their track with a group of homies, spend two days drifting in Penticton, camping, a plethora of other small treks, or be in Vancouver for the grand opening of Circuit Soul’s shop. A month ago I was truly torn over the decision, but I know I made the right choice as we pulled into a dark industrial complex, littered with cool cars, doused in a beam of greasy yellow light, at 12am on Saturday morning. I ended up not sleeping all night, becoming a helping hand in prepping for the opening in 15 hours. I wasn’t alone, at least another 20 pairs of hands trekked through the wee hours of the morning, pushing to finish what needed to be done. All of them family, brought together by the mutual desire to see one man’s dream come to fruition, because when one of us makes it, we all make it. I almost want to say that the night of camaraderie was more enjoyable than the following day of the grand opening, but it was equally as incredible. The people flowing through showed just how far Circuit Soul has reached. Locals poured in from all corners of Vancouver of course, but also from the rest of BC and Canada. Faces from east and west of the USA. Groups from Japan and Australia. Its amazing the distance an idea can travel when it’s projected with all your heart.
"Circuit Soul is a family. Circuit Soul is a collective of ideas, actions, creations, and mentalities. A community of brother and sisterhood that surpasses language, distance, age, and income. The outcasts and underdogs. Those willing to pull their own weight and continually strive for more. There is a reason we’ve kept it difficult to “figure it out”. Those who need it will find it. Those who want it, will get it. Iron minds. ”  - Circuit Soul
I met so many people this weekend. Made connections in places near and far. Renewed old friendships and created new ones. Talked to strangers and people I consider celebrities. The parking lot was graced by 100k+ race cars, and $500 beaters. There were no egos, no attitudes. Just respect and good vibes. How there are people out there who think negatively of CS, I just don’t fully comprehend. But I do want to leave a personal train of thought to the haters out there, few there may be… Maybe you are jealous, maybe you just don’t get it, maybe you heard something bad from a friend of a friend… maybe you’re negative attitude will never let you become a part of the CS family… but the door is always open and you owe it to yourself to at least poke your head in. There is cool stuff happening and the grand opening was just the first step. Congratulations Alex, I’ve only seen a portion of how hard you have worked to make this happen and from that alone I know you have earned this day. Never Settle.
